Researcher in life sciences? Join the UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea International Prize

Are you an individual or institution leveraging scientific research and striving towards ensuring an improved quality in human life? The UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea International Prize for Research in the Life Sciences rewards is set to compensate your efforts.

Established by UNESCO’s Executive Board, the programme seeks to support the achievement 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as well as UNESCO’s global priorities included in the Medium-term Strategy 2014-2021. The goal is to encourage research, enhance collaboration amongst researchers and reinforce networks of centers of excellence in the life sciences towards these goals.

The prize is funded by the Republic of Equatorial Guinea and is given annually to a maximum of three winners.

Benefits

  • Three winners will receive a monetary award of $350,000, divided equally, to help further their research
  • They will receive a certificate and the “Integracion Tribal” statuette by Equatorial Guinean artist Leandro Mbomio

Eligibility

Individual(s) or Institutions endorsed by:

  • Member States in consultation with their National Commissions
  • Non-governmental organisations in official partnership with UNESCO active in a field covered by the Prize

Each can endorse up to five candidates no later than the deadline set each year. Self-nominations will not be considered.
