Got a climate-related solution? Apply for I4C Pitch Hub Competition 2020, Barcelona

Innovate4Climate (I4C), a conference convening both public and private sectors to support the mobilisation of finance towards climate action, opens up applications for the I4C Pitch Hub Competition 2020.

I4C Pitch Hub competition is an annual for innovators to showcase their ingenuity, entrepreneurship, and a clear value proposition. The purpose is to engage startups and entrepreneurs as well as create a space for innovating at I4C.

Organisers of the programme noted that the aim is to facilitate matchmaking between investors and investment opportunities.

I4C Pitch Hub Competition 2020 is hosted by the World Bank Group and will be held in Barcelona for the fourth year in a row.

The Challenge

Fifty-five percent of the world’s population resides in urban areas, a percentage that is expected to increase to 70% by 2050. Cities account for just 2% of global land area but are guilty of 70% of greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, as much as 80% of adaptation costs are expected to be borne in urban areas.

Supporting climate-smart cities with low-carbon is a critical part of addressing climate change. Becoming a climate-smart city requires an integrated approach combining planning, policy, regulation, and investment.

  • Energy
  • Food/Agriculture
  • Mobility/transportation
  • Waste/Water
  • Fintech
