Join the Challenge of 1000 African entrepreneurs at the Africa-France Summit

Challenge of 1000, a joint initiative of Digital Africa and the Africa-France Summit was recently announced at the press conference presenting the 2020 Summit.

One thousand African entrepreneurs are invited to present their solutions at The City of Solutions in Bordeaux, France. The challenge is a dedicated show for sustainable cities and territories through projects and solutions and will be held during the 28th edition of the summit, slated to hold from June 4th – 6th, this year.

The challenge is a dedicated show for sustainable cities and territories through projects and solutions and will be held during the 28th edition of the summit, slated to hold from June 4th – 6th, this year.

Requirement for Application

  • The applicant entrepreneur must be from Africa, also your activity should be related to one of the 7 districts of The City of Solutions
  • Your organisation must be backed by a legal existence (legal statute)
  • Your organisation revenue should be rising
  • Your organisation should deliver a viable product or solution, innovative or suitable at a lower cost, to make French and African cities more viable from an environmental and social point of view

The City Of Solutions Project Must Be Based on the Following 7 Districts

  • Access to essential services
  • Feeding the cities, Building and enhancing the city
  • Moving around the city / visit the city
  • Living in the city
  • Financing and structuring projects
  • Connecting the city
  • Financing and Structuring Projects

The selection of the 1000 entrepreneurs will be based on the following criteria:

  • Must be an African Entrepreneur, and also has an activity related to one of the 7 districts of The City of Solutions
  • Gender Equality
  • Geographical balance of origin of Contractors
  • Balance of points on the 7 districts (Access to essential services, Feeding the cities, Building and enhancing the city, Moving around the city / visit the city, Living in the city, Financing and structuring projects, Connecting the city)
  • Must be an Agent of an innovative or duplicable solution, at a lower cost and a strong impact to make French and African cities more sustainable from an environmental and social point of view
  • Must have registered on the Digital Africa platform

Benefits

Winners will be invited (one person per organisation): the costs of the plane tickets and 3-days accommodation in Bordeaux will be partially or fully carried depending on the financial capabilities of the winner.
Winners will have a space in the entrepreneurs’ stands at the City of Solutions.

 

Timeline:

June 4– 6, 2020: the Africa-France Summit
February 28th, 2020: Application portal closes
End of March 2020: Nomination of the 1.000 winners.
