Can you build designs to solve waste mismanagement? Win €10,000 in the No Waste Challenge

Annually, a massive 2.12 billion tonnes of waste is released globally. Due to poor management, the planet is negatively impacted by this large amount of waste, hence, the No Waste Challenge.

Organised by What Design Can Do (WDCD) in partnership with the IKEA Foundation, the programme seeks to put together sustainable solutions from creatives, including small hackers and big dreamers. The goal is to reverse the disastrous impact of waste mismanagement socially and environmentally.

The destructive ways in which resources are currently extracted, produced and consumed increases climate crisis. Biodiversity loss and accelerating global warming has become of great concern, therefore, No Waste Challenge is designed to build a future that works for both people and planet.

Believing that design has the power to raise awareness, change how things are made and what they are made of, the programme calls for creative ideas, products, services and systems to help solve the challenge in the sector.

Benefits

The winners of the No Waste Challenge will receive the following benefits:

  • Selection by an international jury of leading experts in design, climate action and social impact
  • Prize fund of €10,000 each
  • Each winner will get the chance to present their projects to a global audience during one of WDCD’s annual events on design and innovation
  • Valuable press coverage and media exposure through WDCD’s channels and partners
