FG wants to help 250,000 MSMEs with free CAC registration

by Joan Aimuengheuwa October 22, 2020 4 min read

In line with the FG’s post covid-19 survival fund to support micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), which commenced September 2020, free CAC registration for 250,000 business names has been approved by the Federal Government and the Corporate Affairs Commission.

According to officials, the programme, which commenced across 34 states in Nigeria, on Monday, October 19, 2020, has so far recorded 6,606 registrations nationwide.

Aggregators, across the states, have been appointed to ensure a smooth process, receiving applications from interested business owners, in line with CAC requirements. These aggregators can be contacted via the Corporate Affairs Commission’s website.

Eligibility

All micro, small and medium business entrepreneurs, artisans, craftsmen and women, who are yet to formalise their businesses with the Corporate Affairs Commission, are eligible to apply.

The following documents are required at the various centers for the registration:

  • Three proposed business names
  • Two passport size photographs
  • Valid means of identification
  • Phone number and email address

How to apply

Is your business yet to be registered? Then do not miss out on this, leverage the rare opportunity to register and formalise your business while it’s still ongoing.
