Ingressive launches a non-profit arm to train 1 million African tech talents after doubling its fund size

Ingressive Capital, a venture capital firm that funds pre-seed and seed-stage tech-enabled businesses in the B2B and B2C industry has launched a non-profit arm, Ingressive for Good. 

Debuted on Wednesday, July 2 2020, Ingressive For Good (I4G) looks to increase the earning power of African youth by providing them with tech training and resources. 

This is coming barely a week after the parent company, Ingressive Capital, increased its fund size from $5 million to $10 million. The company which formerly invested $50,000 to $100,000 will now invest $200,000 to $400,000 for 10% ownership.

Speaking on the launch of the non-profit arm, Sean Burrowes, COO and Co-Founder of Ingressive for Good in a statement shared with smepeaks noted that “The three  core goals of Ingressive For Good are to create 5,000 jobs through partnerships, connect 1,000,000 African youth to technical skills training and award scholarships to qualified individuals studying computer science courses, in line with our overarching mission to leverage need-based resources, learning, and the power of work to empower African youths in tech.” 

The initiative will reportedly empower, inspire, and connect the next generation of tech talents in need of opportunities. It will also help the participants with micro-scholarships, technical training, talent placement as well as provide other resources to empower them.

Though this is slightly similar with what Andela, an African-focused software engineering firm is doing with it Andela Learning Community save for the fact that this is not-for-profit.
