Fempower Africa Has Big Plans for Females Interested in Technology on International Women’s Day

Social enterprise, Fempower Africa which seeks to train, teach and equip women in Africa with technological, leadership, and entrepreneurship skills has opened up an invitation to its International Women’s Day (IWD) 2019 celebration.

The event is scheduled to hold on Saturday, March 16 by 10 am prompt at Vibranium Valley, Ikeja, Lagos. With the theme, “Balance for Better: Diversity and Inclusion, Women Leading in Technology”, Fempower is focused on celebrating African women championing entrepreneurship, innovation, and technology. The event will also feature gritty and authentic conversations led by some of the most revered and talented African women in tech, business, and leadership to share their experiences in their journey to the top while giving career advice as a plus.

Fempower wants to celebrate the IWD 2019 in a unique way, hence it is looking at women leading in the tech industry.

“We want to celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day in such a way that it would leave a lasting impression on all the ladies who would be in attendance, hence we have lined up amazing activities that would make the event spicier”, says Sandra Ajaja, Founder, Fempower Africa.

Target attendees include women between the ages of 18 and 35 years who are seeking a career in technology or are building a tech-enabled business. In addition, female university students curious about technology or women who want to be enlightened about technology are also invited. And most importantly, women seeking to network and build with others are welcome.

To make it worthwhile, Fempower has partnered with key companies such as Ingressive, Gitlab, IBM-DNA, Hayas Foundation and Happy Coffee Cafe that will be handling masterclasses for the event.

IWD 2019 promises to be informative as well as interactive in the various session ranging from lectures, discussion, demonstrations, coding challenge, design sprints and questions and answer sessions. Additionally, attendees would be added to a Slack community, where they will have access to all resources used during the event.  Interested attendees should register online to reserve a seat.
