12 startups selected for MEST Africa & Mastercard Foundation 2025 Ghana edtech fellowship
Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) Africa, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation Edtech Fellowship, has announced the selection of twelve Edtech startups to participate in the second cohort of its fellowship in Ghana.
The six-month fellowship provides entrepreneurs with critical business and educational support, financial support, and networking opportunities to prepare them for scalability, sustainability, and impact. The selected startups have proven that they are providing tech-driven solutions targeted at improving the quality of the education system. Upon completion of the programme, entrepreneurs would have access to investment opportunities, resources, and expert mentorship.
With the Mastercard Foundation Edtech Fellowship’s first cohort reaching 119,412 learners, the new cohort aims to prioritise inclusive, learner‑centred solutions that work for every child. “We are thrilled to welcome these visionary companies into the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship at MEST Africa. Their innovative solutions hold the promise of transforming education in Ghana, and we are excited to support their growth and impact,” said Angela Duho, program manager at MEST Africa.

The Mastercard Foundation Edtech Fellowship was launched in 2019, with the fellowship officially kicking off in 2020, and so far, 140 startups have benefited. Its goal is to partner with 12 Tech Hubs to support over 250 EdTech companies and reach at least 1.8 million young people in Africa by 2025.
Meet the Mastercard Foundation Edtech Fellowship entrepreneurs ready to build the future of learning
- TECHAiDE, an Edtech tech company with its presence in Ghana and existence for over a decade, has a wide range of products like Edulab that engage students with hands-on STEM learning and provide access to over 250GB of curriculum-relevant content
- Maxim Nyansa Foundation, an NGO that offers training to graduates from underprivileged backgrounds. They also provide teachers and students with important IT infrastructure and educational software to improve the teaching and learning experience
- Craft Education Technologies is targeted at providing an inclusive educational system for children with learning delays and behavioural challenges. Teachers are equipped to deliver special education through the platform
- InovTech STEM Centre is a learning hub that provides access to STEM education and also offers training on robotics and coding
- Nikasemo Technologies, an edtech startup that builds software and hardware aimed at enhancing learning and teaching outcomes through their various platforms, which are; Nikasemo Learn, Asixta, Edlege, Nikasemo Numeracy, and Nikasemo Notes.
- Scribble Works Publishing House is an educational publishing house that develops tools tailored to meet the needs of each African classroom
- MooslaTrain is focused on providing interactive learning tools to make Math education fun and engaging, introducing Math club to change how students experience Math
- Jesi AI is focused on empowering students with an AI virtual learning tool. Here, students can ask whatever questions on their minds. It also provides teachers the opportunity to prepare lesson materials with less time spent on research
- The Ghana Olympiad Academy provides opportunities for students to enhance their skills in STEM
- Asah Maker-Space: enhances individuals with skills in robotics, 3D printing, coding and construction
- Metaschool AI, an app that uses AI to personalise the learning experience and recommend optimal learning paths for each individual
- STEMAIDE is dedicated to providing students with hands-on learning experiences for a successful STEM career
Commenting on the initiative, Rodwell Magasi, Acting Director, Mastercard Foundation Centre for Innovative Teaching and Learning, said,

For it is when we design with the end user in mind that the business case for the solutions is more scalable, sustainable and impactful.
