A venture capital firm focused on tech-enabled companies across Sub-Saharan Africa, TLcom, has officially announced the launch of its second Africa Tech Female Founder Summit on Friday, October 9, 2020.
Themed “Reset – Survive – Thrive“, the virtual programme, scheduled to hold on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at 11:00 am, seeks to equip female tech founders across Africa, to achieve commercial success and scale in the long-term despite the impact of the global pandemic.
The programme comprises speakers from across Africa’s tech scene including; Hilda Moraa of Pezesha, Wambui Kinya of Andela, and Fara Ashiru Jituboh of Okra. According to the company, this year’s summit will present an opportunity for attendees to receive business and fundraising advice directly from investors at TLcom, Aruwa Capital and the IFC (International Finance Corporation), during its newly-launched “Ask Me Anything” Q&A session.
In a bid to tackle the problem of limited resources and support for African entrepreneurs, the goal is to establish a network for Africa’s most thoughtful and innovative female founders, to access strategic and operational support while pushing to achieve massive value generation, and executing business strategies. With several workshops and panel sessions, female entrepreneurs are also equipped with networking power, resourcefulness, business and fundraising advice.
“For the African entrepreneur, resources and support are limited in comparison to other regions but as a sector, we must address the tough reality that this is even worse for female entrepreneurs on the continent. With this in mind, the second Female Founder Summit is a firm commitment from TLcom that we cannot and will not ignore these discrepancies,” Omobola Johnson, Senior Partner at TLcom Capital said.
