Submit your innovative concept for gender equality in USAID’s CARE-GBV. $125,000 funding

by Joan Aimuengheuwa March 2, 2021 4 min read

Focused on driving sustainable development across sectors, the United States Agency for International Development, USAID, has organised the Collective Action to Reduce Gender-Based Violence (CARE-GBV).

Designed for qualified organisations globally, the programme seeks innovative concept note applications for small grants. Leveraging these grants, capacity to generate solutions that elevate the role of staff wellness and resiliency in promoting high-quality, sustainable, and survivor-centred gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response programming, fill global data gaps related to GBV, and promote learning will be built.

Gender-based violence (GBV) is a pervasive violation of human rights and a barrier to civic, social, political, and economic participation. GBV undermines not only the safety, dignity, overall health, and agency of the millions of individuals who experience it, but also the public health, economic stability, and security of nations.

As a part of its sustainability plan, the programme also seeks to strengthen and create knowledge, while building awareness of the need to reduce gender-based violence globally.

Benefits

  • Subject to the availability of funds, CARE-GBV will provide funds for individual grants between $50,000 to $125,000
  • Partnerships among organisations are encouraged, particularly where one partner can provide capacity building and mentoring to the other
  • Concept note submission is voluntary

Eligibility

  • Proposed activities must align with the purpose and focus areas of the programme
  • Proposed activities that highlight the needs of marginalised women and girls are encouraged
  • All applicants must be legally recognised organisational entities under applicable law working in countries with a USAID presence
