Nigeria’s Publiseer Makes it into Singularity University’s Global Startup Programme
Recently, Publiseer, a digital content distribution company took to Twitter to announce its acceptance into Singularity University’s Global Startup Programme.
Since the start, the digital publisher has helped African writers and musicians from low-income communities to distribute and monetise their creative works across over 400 digital stores in 100 countries.
The recent milestone will enable Publiseer’s founders Chidi Nwaogu and Chika Nwaogu to participate in the Global Startup Programme (GSP) which has been the flagship of Singularity University (SU) since 2008 and has served innovators from a wide diversity of backgrounds. Personalities such as Muhammad Yunus, Anousheh Ansari, Astro Teller, Naveen Jain, Sylvia Earle, Esteban Bullrich, Peter Worden, including delegations from UNICEF and World Food Programme.
GSP helps future-focused entrepreneurs transform radical ideas into a tangible impact on a global scale. It’s a structured, immersive programme offering startup-focused educational resources and world-class mentorship from SU’s faculty, staff, and industry experts. Since inception, GSP has generated more than 1,000 impact innovations from over 45 countries, and 88% its portfolio companies continue to raise funds following their year with Singularity University (SU) which was founded in 2008 by Peter Diamandis and Ray Kurzweil as a Silicon Valley think tank that offers educational programs and a business incubator.
This feat will no doubts add up to Publiseer’s pipeline of awards and recognition. Some of which include becoming profitable eight months after launch, being the first and only African publisher to join the International Publishing Distribution Association in Madrid, getting nominated for the 4th AppsAfrica Innovation Awards, and emerging a finalist at a Harvard Business School New Venture Competition. Publiseer has been accepted into several accelerators and incubators, such as Microsoft’s Accelerate Labs and University of Cape Town’s Venture Incubation Programme.
